Dark Slope invests in talent, diversity, and innovation in storytelling, supporting creators through programs like OYA Scale Up Immersive.
The team at Dark Slope are passionate about investing in talent and fostering diversity and innovation in the storytelling industry through programming collaborations. The company's ongoing support for creators was most recently exemplified through its involvement with the OYA Scale Up Immersive program across three cohorts.
OYA Scale Up Immersive was led by OYA Black Arts Coalition and the Canadian Film Centre, in partnership with Dark Slope, with funding from FedDev Ontario. The accelerator program was designed for Black-owned media production company leaders interested in expanding into the immersive media landscape. It included programming, prototype development and mentorship streams for 30 companies.
As Dark Slope’s Executive Chair and Co-Founder, Raja Khanna, mentioned about the wrap of the planned 3 year OYA Scale Up Immersive program, "It’s a wrap… but we’re not stopping." This sentiment captures Dark Slope's continuous drive to empower media production companies and creators.
The recent opening of Dark Slope’s new 35,000 square foot studio space marks a significant milestone in the company’s mission. This new facility offers enhanced opportunities for upskilling creators of all backgrounds and skill levels. “As Dark Slope expands its virtual production and immersive experience businesses, we plan to continue to build our support of the Canadian storytelling industry - upskilling underrepresented creators and helping creators and businesses grow how they can create and profit.” shared Khanna.
